Mass Intentions
The Importance of Mass Intentions
It is a praiseworthy practice for the faithful to entrust Mass intentions to their priests.
The Church professes that the Holy Mass is the continual Sacrifice of Christ, offered to
God the Father for the salvation of mankind.
When Holy Mass is offered for a particular intention, the Sacrifice is presented to God
in thanksgiving, in a time of need, or for the repose of the soul of someone who has died.
God the Father is implored to apply the fruits of Christβs Sacrifice especially to this
intention. It is one of the most powerful means by which we can assist the souls in
purgatory, helping to shorten their time of purification, and likewise support our living
loved ones in moments of need, sorrow, or joy.

Norms for Mass Intentions
On Sundays and ecclesiastical feast days, a priest (pastor) is required to offer Holy Mass
for the people entrusted to his care (Missa pro populo). No personal intentions can
be attached to that Mass. On other days, one intention may be accepted per Holy Mass.
Stipend
A financial offering (stipend) is requested as a genuine sacrifice from the person
submitting the intention. This contribution supports the livelihood of the priest who offers
the Mass.
Submitting Intentions
Mass intentions may be submitted only in writing, preferably in a sealed envelope,
clearly stating the name of the person for whom the intention is requested, your relation to
this person, and any preferred date. Please hand this envelope personally to the pastor whenever
possible. Submitting intentions in writing by e-mail is also possible:
fssp.nl@gmail.com.
Suggested stipend: β¬12 per Holy Mass; financial limitations should never be an obstacle.
Payment
Please transfer your offering to NL58 INGB 0005 4404 82,
in the name of Stichting Sint-Petrusbroederschap Nederland,
mentioning your intention(s) and the number of Masses.
